Discover Proper Candle Care

Candles are an excellent addition to any space, providing ambiance, warmth, and fragrance. To ensure you get the most out of your candles, it's essential to care for them properly. Proper care extends the life of your candles and ensures a safer and more enjoyable experience.

1. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Always extinguish candles before leaving the room or going to sleep.
2. Keep candles away from flammable materials. Ensure candles are placed on a stable surface, away from curtains, bedding, or other flammable objects.
3. Keep candles out of reach of children and pets. Children and pets can easily knock over candles, causing accidents.
4. Do not burn candles near drafts. Drafts can cause uneven burning and excessive smoke.
5. Trim the wick. Always trim the wick to ¼ inch before lighting to prevent excessive smoking and soot. This should be done every time you intend to re-lighten. 

1. First Burn: When lighting a candle for the first time, allow it to burn until the wax melts evenly across the surface. This will prevent tunneling and ensure an even burn in the future. Burning for 2 to 4 hours is recommended. 4 hours is the ideal maximum.
2. Subsequent Burns: Always allow the candle to burn long enough to create a full melt pool (the melted wax reaches the edge of the container). This typically takes 2-3 hours for a standard-sized candle.
3. Extinguishing: Use a snuffer or gently blow out the flame to extinguish the candle. Avoid blowing out the candle, which can cause the wick to move and create smoke.

1. Our candles may contain larger, rough crystals that can hinder a clean burn. Before your first burn, we recommend gently removing the large crystals with a spoon or your fingers. Rinse them carefully with warm, soapy water and pat them dry for safekeeping. After extinguishing the flame for aesthetic purposes, you can place them back in the candle, but never leave them in the melted wax while burning.

1. Store candles in a cool, dry place. Avoid storing candles in direct sunlight or near heat sources, as this can cause them to melt or become misshapen.
2. Keep candles covered when not in use. Dust and debris can accumulate on the surface of candles, affecting their appearance and performance.

Tunneling: If your candle begins to tunnel (burn down the center, leaving wax along the sides), try using a candle warmer or carefully melting the wax along the edges with a hairdryer to create an even melt pool. You can even take your vessel and slowly move it in a circular motion so that the melted wax can heat up the wax buildup on the sides to begin melting down. 
2. Soot: Excessive soot can be caused by a wick that is too long or by burning the candle in a drafty area. Trim the wick and move the candle to a draft-free location to reduce soot.
3. Flickering Flame: A flickering flame can indicate a draft or a wick that is too long. Trim the wick and move the candle to a draft-free location to stabilize the flame.
